Professor Linda Patridge is Honorary Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne, Germany, Founding Director, Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, Cologne, Germany, and Director, Institute of Healthy Ageing, University College London, London, UK. Professor Partridge studies the biology and genetics of ageing (biogerontology) and age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The aim of her work is to discover evolutionarily conserved dietary, genetic and pharmacological interventions that can improve health and function during ageing. In her department, they investigate the mechanisms at work using an experimental approach that takes advantage of an interplay between the fruit fly Drosophila and the mouse and that paves the way for development of a broad spectrum, preventative medicine for diseases associated with human ageing.
