Kumlesh K. Dev is currently Professor in Neuroscience in the Department of Physiology, a Principal Investigator in the School of Medicine and Director of the M.Sc. Neuroscience programme in Trinity College Dublin. He is also President of the Frontiers in Neurology Ireland (FIN) Society and Representative Director Ireland for Venture Valuation, Zurich, Switzerland.
Professor Dev obtained a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow, UK. He holds an M.B.A from Warwick Business School, UK and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Bristol, UK. He has also been a Visiting Fellow at Novo Nordisk, Copenhagen and a Wellcome Trust Fellow at the University of Kyoto, Japan. In addition, Professor Dev was a Program Team Head at Novartis, Basel, Switzerland, where he led a number of drug discovery programs to identify and develop new treatments for multiple sclerosis.
He currently leads the Drug Development Group at Trinity College Dublin, whose research focuses on investigating mechanisms regulating receptor trafficking, astrocyte biology and neuro-inflammatory and degenerative disorders. With a particular interest in demyelinating disorders, his group aims to engineer novel drugs that alter glial cell function in diseases of the central nervous system.
