Professor Aare Märtson

Dr. Aare Märtson is a senior researcher and an associate professor of orthopedics, Chair of Traumatology and Orthopaedics at University of Tartu, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedics. He is also Head of Clinic of Traumatology and Orthopaedics at Tartu University Hospital. Dr. Märtson is member of the EFORT Basic Science Task Force, of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), of the Association of Baltic Pediatric Surgeons and of the German-Baltic Doctors Society. He is also president of the Nordic Orthopaedic Federation (NOF) and vice-president of the Estonian Orthopaedic Society, as well as national delegate of both SICOT and EFORT. Dr. Aare Märtson is member of the board of Acta Orthopaedica and of Estonian Osteoporosis Society. His field of research focuses on clinical and social aspects of joint replacement, ond diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis, bone metabolic diseases and bone tumors, on investigation of bone regeneration in limb lengthening, fillinf of bone defects and healing of fractures, and also on B600 Surgery, orthopaedics, traumatology. He is currently involved in two projects: IUT20-46 "Translational studies on bone and muscle pathologies (1.01.2014−31.12.2019)"; and MARTO13136R "HypOrth - New approaches in the development of Hypoallergenic implant material in Orthopedics: steps to personalised medicine (1.08.2013−31.07.2018)
