Silvia is am a Senior PostDoc working in the Genetics of Neurodegeneration Group at Harwell Institute (Medical Research Council) in Oxfordshire, UK. Her research has been focused on studying the mechanisms underlying several neurodegenerative diseases using mouse models (such as Huntington’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Silvia's current research focuses on the identification of particular genes causative of metabolic alterations that have a crucial role in the age at onset and progression of neurodegenerative disorders, using mouse genetics as the main tool.

Silvia graduated in Biology by Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and did her PhD at the CIB-CSIC in Madrid. Silvia then moved to Oxford (UK) for her PostDoc at Harwell (http://www.har.mrc.ac.uk/). Silvia is a member of professional associations including SEBBM, Genetic Society and SRUK/CERU.
