Dr Alenka Levicnik studied at the University of Graz and Vienna, School of Medicine, Austria from 1993 – 2001 and took the final examination in 2001. From 2001-2003 Alenka was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine/Rheumatology ( Prof. Dr. C. G. Fathman, MD) at Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Immunology and Rheumatology, Stanford, CA, USA. From 2005-2013 she had Internship and Residency in Pathology at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. In 2013 Alenka has been a Clinical Pathologist at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Division of Pathology. In 2002 Alenka was awarded an American Arthritis National Research Fundation Fellowship: Prevention and Treatment of Collagen induced Arthritis by adoptive cellular gene therapy: Local delivery of IL12p40 and TNF scFv, versus anti-CD3 scFv.
